Portimão area was once one of the largest national references in the canning industry, with over 40 fully operational factories. This route invites you to relive this rich history and discover the region’s authentic flavours.

The experience begins with a visit to the only canning factory, where you can observe the artisanal production process and taste high-quality preserves. Next, you’ll visit the Portimão Municipal Market, where fresh fish arrives directly from the fish market to the stalls, accompanied by a guide who explains the species present. Here, you can also see vegetables and buy traditional sweets.

The route includes a visit to the Portimão Museum, which stands out for its timeless presentation of the canning industry, showcasing some of the technical equipment and tools used in this industry.
